Olympian cyclist, Kate Courtney puts her pedal to the medal to show how she uses her U.S. Bank Visa card ftw.
Financial advertising is polished, predictable, and easy to ignore. The challenge was to make U.S. Bank’s card stand out in a crowded, lookalike category. So instead of another scripted spot, the idea broke the format, turning the commercial into a behind-the-scenes story of itself.
Set on a fake production with Olympian Kate Courtney, the “making of” became the narrative, positioning the card as the constant within the chaos. What started as a piggyback shoot became the lead idea, scaling into a flexible, thumb-stopping and self-aware platform across content and Olympic partnerships.
The result reframed a category built on polish into something more human, proving the fastest way to stand out is to stop acting like every other ad.
